Statistics- maths

This week we are continuing with our work around statistics. We have been looking at classifying information. Some groups have been gathering and sorting data. Another group has been sorting data and graphing the results and another group has taken part in mini census and will display their data in different ways.
Here is a picture of the group who sorted and classified objects.

Library moments

I
Our class library day is Friday. It's such a great time to relax and read loads of books. We are loving the new big bean bags in the pit. ๐Ÿ˜„

Ben has recommended these books to Ody. Luca really enjoys them too.

Kelly Sports action!!!

Today we had a 30 minute session with coaches from Kelly Sport. It was great to see the class so active and involved. A notice went home today with further information if you are interested.

Terrific Tabloids!

The tabloids we so much fun. It was great seeing such a high level of participation and everyone having a great time!

Who has the highest tower?

Today Room 18 were set another team work challenge. They had to work in teams of three and make a free standing tower. The difficult part...they had to use 20 pieces of spaghetti, 1 meter of tape and two marshmallows. It was super tricky! Some groups managed it...others ended up with lots of bits. We then discussed the importance of planning, clear communication and listening to each other. We also decided that flexibility and problem solving were also very important. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Confident, respectful citizens

Room 18 students often seem to display qualities of responsive, respectful citizens and this year is no different.
I asked them: 'Who should look after our environment?' ....and of course 'Why do you think that?'

They had lots of ideas- including themselves as members of Ilam School. We got to work last Friday giving the areas around Room 18 a really good tidy. Mr Pike was really impressed!
